Proper Gutter Pitch and Downspout Spacing — Why It Matters
A perfectly clean gutter won’t help much if it’s not pitched correctly.
Your gutter system must slope slightly (about ¼ inch for every 10 feet) toward the downspout for water to flow properly. Too flat, and water pools. Too steep, and it rushes too fast — eroding your fascia or foundation.
Equally important? Downspout spacing. Each downspout should serve no more than 30–40 linear feet of gutter to handle Charlotte’s heavy rainfalls.
Our ClearFlow team inspects and adjusts gutter pitch during cleanings to ensure efficient flow and long-term performance.
